Our performance Reading the Performance, Performing The book emerged directly from this process of writing and archiving. Material intended for the book was reconfigured, recycled, and translated into a live performance. On stage, Lia Haraki, editor of the book Dr Erica Charalambous, and Lia’s long-term collaborator and technical manager Yiangos Hadjiyiannis, acted as living archives—remembering, responding, re-enacting, and sharing fragments of the past. In doing so, the performance became both an extension of and a reflection on the book-making process: a dialogue between documentation and embodiment, text and voice, memory and immediacy. Presented at the Rialto Theatre on 16 November 2024 as part of the Cyprus Choreography Platform, the work invited audiences to witness how archiving can itself be performed, and how a book can be read through the body.
