INTUNITION

2012

From intuition to sensation

to movement to creation

to trusting the now

as the only way to humanly be

In the piece, the dancers daring to enter unknown territory use intuition as their only guide to create movement on the spot. Their bodies on stage do not represent any truth other than what is witnessed and experienced there and then. IntuNition is a way that breaks away from a traditional contemporary dance aesthetic, taking the spectator to a world where energy becomes more powerful than form.

The dancers’ actions and the spectators’ presence are all part of the same movement ritual; they are the embodied performance experience. In other words, the work proposes a journey that allows one to lose oneself in time and place in order to be revealed again, aware, awake, and at the core of one’s truth. IntuNition is the third of a series of works with research on how repetition can stimulate a kinesthetic response.
