THE SHAPE OF NECESSITY

2013

[...] There’s no greater story than ours.

That of man and woman.

It will be a story of giants.

Invisible, transposable.

A story of new ancestors.

Look. My eyes.

They are the picture of necessity [...]

–Wim Wenders

* Taken from Good Reads website in reference to the film Wings of Desire (1987)

The shape of necessity is love. It is the bare necessity of needing the other in order to balance. It is a journey of coexistence manifested in its mostbasic form: sharing weight. Isn’t love about allowing the other to support you become lighter?

My wish was to use the naked bodies both as landscapes exciting enough in their form to keep the senses interested, symbolic enough to flirt between sexual stereotypes and a sensuality that triggers enough juices in the bodies of both performers and spectators in order to create emotion.

My dream was the rawness of the naked moving body to appear simple and innocent enough as two kids playing or two animals fighting, or two humans partnering. I enjoyed watching it unfold every time.
