Vessel is one's body, which includes many other bodies like the physical, the mental, the emotional, the sensual, the metaphysical, and many more.
The piece is a listening experience functioning as an opportunity for the multilayered nature of the listener’s body to reflect on itself. In a sense through the listening act there is a chance for ones several bodies to connect and to give room to one another.
In the piece, the viewer/participant enters the theater stage which functions as a listening room. The sound pieces created by Haraki to the music of Yiannis Christofides are vocal improvisations based on Haraki’s repetitive poetry practise which in this case follows the style of mantras. The sound works were made to serve the idea that whatever you repeat, you may come to beleive and embody eventually. In this sense the works are based on specific words and statements aimed at self empowerment, self care and obtaining balance.
The pieces will also be released as independent sound pieces sometime in 2023 and this will be announced on our website.
The act of ‘vesseling’
Vesseling is a state used by Haraki when an individual is working on connecting to their other bodies (emotional, mental, metaphysical etc.) and becomes aware of their needs. For Vesseling το happen οne need to come to the present moment and become fulminded about what they are feeling - sensing. Triggers to help this process is focusing on breathing, or vocalizing, or listening, or writting, or intentionally touching, smelling, tasting, looking and any action that happens with the intention to make room and time to be with ones self. The opposite of vessing would be ‘chanelling’ when one externalizes parts of their world and so shares themselves with others i forms that look like a converstaion, or a performance, or a hug and many more. Vesseling is necessary for channeling and vise versa as both states are essential for self balance and self acceptance.
