THE PERFORMING BIOGRAPHY GAME

It’s a fun game of connecting with others through life stories, which trigger emotions, laughter and the idea of not taking ourselves too seriously.

The Performing Biography Game is an interactive bonding and fun group game where individuals are guided to share interesting and funny incidents and experiences from their lives and those secret facts that happen to most of us, but usually remain unsaid.. The game is ideal for home gatherings as it can act as a fast way to connect and build trust within the group.

At the beginning of the game, as a host, I guide the participants to become comfortable with each other by using several warm-up tasks as icebreakers. Then the game begins as the group is separated into two smaller groups, and each individual from each group narrates a story. by taking a card from a deck of cards which includes various themes and topics.

The stories can be true or fake and can be told in the form of confessions, exaggerated lies, songs or as bedtime stories. The short monologues take place in front of a microphone and are accompanied by sounds I create through several instruments and voice.

There is no winner or loser, a good or a bad performer, just a safe environment for embarrassing, moving, sensitive, vulnerable, funny, and cheesy moments to take place.

  • The Performing Biography Game came from my ‘Performing Biography - standup solo performance practice, which I have been developing and teaching since 2009. In the practice, performers use their own biography as material for the stage.
