EN OIKO

2008

The piece EN OIKO (ΕΝ ΟΙΚΩ) took place at the House of Dr Spyros G. Pavlides, opposite the zoo and the beach. The house was built in 1901 on the outskirts of the town, with elements of colonial architecture. The very fact that every Limassolian would have liked to visit this charming house, made the piece exciting even before the performance took place. The piece mixed the history of the house with the performers’ biographies and dealt with th concepts of truth and lies as theatrical tools. As usual in Haraki’s pieces, the body has no limits, and ΕΝ ΟΙΚΩ was not only a choreographic work but a performance whose main actors were the body of the space mixed with the bodies of the performers.

On stage, we create our imaginary environment. In this particular case, the set already exists, therefore, we let ourselves be influenced by it, feeling the absence of those who were once there and believing that we, ourselves, had memories from experiences that never really happened. We become the guides of the space which is real, through an art that does not represent reality.
